Cooling Small Pets
Summer can get pretty hot for our small animals, such as hamsters, rabbits and guinea pigs. Luckily, we have cooling products in our range specially designed to keep your furry friends comfortable, even on the hottest days.
Shelters
To help your small animals cope with the heat of summer, it’s nice to make a shelter. This helps your pet keep cool and can help regulate your pet’s body temperature. The Beeztees Rodent Cooler Cico is a house with a granite cooling stone as a roof, for an extra cool environment. In addition, a cooling pad, such as the Snugglesafe Cool Pod, offers a perfect solution to keep the lying surface of your small animal’s enclosure cool. You simply place the cool pad in the cage or pen and your pet will be happy to lie on it to find coolness. A cooling pad stays cool for hours and can be used again and again.
Hydration
Hydration is essential during hot weather, so we recommend making sure there is always a full water bottle in your pet’s enclosure. To provide extra cooling, you can also use a nebuliser to create a light mist of water in the air, lowering the ambient temperature. Add some cooling hydrating fruits and vegetables to your pet’s diet, such as cucumber, celery, lettuce and pieces of watermelon. These are not only hydrating, but also make a refreshing and tasty snack!
Make sure the enclosure is well ventilated and place it away from direct sunlight to avoid overheating. If your small animal lives outside, always provide plenty of shaded areas where they can escape the hot sun.
