To help your small animals cope with the heat of summer, it’s nice to make a shelter. This helps your pet keep cool and can help regulate your pet’s body temperature. Hydration is essential during hot weather, so we recommend making sure there is always a full water bottle in your pet’s enclosure. To provide extra cooling, you can also use a nebuliser to create a light mist of water in the air, lowering the ambient temperature. Add some cooling hydrating fruits and vegetables to your pet’s diet, such as cucumber, celery, lettuce and pieces of watermelon. These are not only hydrating, but also make a refreshing and tasty snack!
Make sure the enclosure is well ventilated and place it away from direct sunlight to avoid overheating. If your small animal lives outside, always provide plenty of shaded areas where they can escape the hot sun.
