    Royal Canin Gastro Intestinal Cat

Nutrition plays a major role in the treatment of digestive problems. Your vet will usually prescribe a special diet food. Royal Canin Gastro Intestinal Cat can also help treat vomiting and/or diarrhoea. Royal Canin Gastro Intestinal Cat is specially designed for cats with digestive disorders.

    Digestive disorders

There are many cats of all ages with gastrointestinal tract disorders. The most common symptoms are vomiting and diarrhoea. The cause of these symptoms varies widely. The severity and the treatment of gastrointestinal tract disorders are very different and in some cases this special diet food is used (in addition to treatment).

    Recommended for

    • Acute and chronic diarrhoea
    • Chronic intestinal inflammations/Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD)
    • Poor digestion and malabsorption
    • Recovery
    • Bacterial overgrowth (sometimes after a course of antibiotics)
    • Liver disease (except for hepatic encephalopathy)
    • Gastritis (inflammation of the gastric mucosa often combined with the bowel)
    • Colitis (inflammation of the large intestine)

    Key features

The combination of highly digestible protein, rice, special dietary fibre and fish oil in Royal Canin Gastro Intestinal Feline ensures a balanced intestinal flora and optimal digestion. The gastrointestinal tract is under less strain, as the high energy density allows for smaller portions. The diet promotes weight gain during the recovery period. Cats with gastrointestinal disease may experience a decreased appetite, and weight loss may occur. The great tasting flavour of this diet promotes food intake, helping the cat to recover faster. The omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA contribute to the health of the gastrointestinal tract. These diet foods also reduce the formation of both struvite and calcium crystals in the urine.

    Advice

In case of acute disease, use the product for at least 3 weeks, as the bowel requires this period of time to recover. Divide portions evenly throughout the day.

    Not suitable for:

    • Cats suffering from liver disease

  • Worth trying
By sam, Sunday 21 June 2020

This product is worth trying is your cat has digestive problems. My kitten had very frequent, loose and smelly stools. My vet recommended this product. There is a kitten version but she wouldn't eat that but luckily loved this product. Within less than 48 hours her stools were normal and didn't smell as much. She also had much more energy than before. After about 4 weeks I put her onto another kitten food and she was fine with that so I guess the probiotics in the food must have put her digestive system back working properly.

I happily used this product as I needed an alternative to the kibble I'd been using for one of my elderly cats with digestive problems. At first he was more than happy to eat this wet alternative. However, he has now become less interested and I have resorted to using fresh cooked fish to coax him to eat. I believe this product is well worth a try as it doesn't upset the tummy, but taste obviously isn't for my boy.
