    Puur Cranberry

Puur Cranberry is a food supplement that helps to maintain a healthy bladder and urinary tract. Cranberries are very sour berries with a red colour created by proanthocyanidins. When your pet eats these berries, the acidification that occurs in the bladder creates an environment in which unwanted bacteria can't grow. For an optimal effect, it's important to feed your pet the right dosage of cranberries. There is about 1kg extract from 25kg cranberries in PUUR Cranberry. This means that there's a very high concentration in the product that will have a beneficial effect on your pet's urinary health. Thanks to a high level of vitamin C in the product, the urine is made even more acidic which makes it less appealing to bacteria.

    Dosage and application

Unless prescribed otherwise by a vet, once daily:

    Recommended dosage
    Animal Optimal dosage
Dog 1-3 capsules (depending on body weight)
    Cat 1 capsule

    Administration

Can be mixed with food. The capsules can be opened so that they can be mixed with the food. The capsules may also be given with a treat or snack, such as cheese or sausage.

If the dog does not like the taste of the product, the powder can be given with some meat or yogurt. Cats also eat the supplement with some meat. If your pet does not like the flavour, get your pet adjusted by giving small amounts. Then gradually increase the dosage.

    Treatment duration

During an acute situation, the duration of the treatment is relatively short. This may vary from a few days to 3 weeks. If you notice an improvement, continue the treatment for a few more days.

In the event of long-term discomfort, the effect is usually visible after 1 to 3 weeks. If you notice an improvement, you can switch to a maintenance dose. This is usually half of the dosage indicated on the packaging. When dosing this product, pay close attention to your pets reaction. At the beginning of a treatment, a higher dosage may be required. This product can be safely given in a double dose. Reduce the dosage gradually to the lowest possible dose.

This product can be given indefinitely as a maintenance dose. Immediately resume treatment immediately if symptoms worsen.

If you suspect cystitis in your cat, we recommend that you consult your veterinarian.

    Composition

(per capsule) 275 mg Cranberry extract 25: 1 and 27.5mg Vitamin C (as L-ascorbic acid). Microcrystalline cellulose and silicon dioxide.

  • Tricky to open capsules
By MacBraveheart, Sunday 31 May 2020

The capsules are just for dosage and not to be fed to your pet, but they are very difficult to open. I have now perfect the art of tapping the content down and then carefully cutting the very tip off the narrower end. The content, a fine pink powder, is pretty strong tasting and my dog, suffering from dementia as she does, will not touch anything it is sprinkled on. I have, therefore, had to mix it with a tiny drop of water so that I can then make into a tiny pellet which I hide in a bit of ham or with a bit more water to fill my trusty syringe and give it to her directly. Poor wee mite- it's awful (and, yes, I know that dogs have a different sense of taste to humans)! It would be better as a tablet, I believe. Hoping that it will help with keeping her urinary tract healthy, but I know that cranberry works for humans, so am hopeful.
