The German Shepherd is an active dog, and you want to keep your dog's body in top condition for as long as possible, even as he/she gets older. After reaching the age of 5, the dog may start to show signs of ageing. Royal Canin developed the German Shepherd Adult 5+ specifically designed to support the first phase of the ageing process in the German Shepherd. As dogs age, their nutritional needs change. The food will help maintain healthy cells with a combination of antioxidants (including vitamin C and E). The kibble contains an adjusted phosphorous level to help support kidney health. The German Shepherd Adult 5+ contains highly digestible proteins (L.I.P.) to help support digestive system vulnerability and provide optimal stool quality. To maintain healthy bones and joints, the food contains specific nutrients, such as collagen and omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA. These substances will help support cartilage during the aging process and try to keep bones and joints in good condition as much as possible. The kibble will retain its shape to stimulate chewing. They are also easy to soak in water, which can help dogs who have difficulty chewing.
