    Honey

Thanks to the combination of a high sugar content, enzymes and a low pH value, honey has a healing effect. The sugars in honey help keep the wound moist, allowing it to close more easily. When the enzymes in the bee product come into contact with the wound fluid, they produce a small amount of hydrogen peroxide. This dose is too small to do any damage to the wound or skin, but it is enough to kill bacteria. Another reason for the healing effect of the honey is its low pH. Enzymes have an effect on the sugars, creating an acid environment in which bacteria cannot survive. In addition, a low pH helps to strengthen the skin. Honey has a healing effect, but is not a replacement for antibiotics.
