Body, Legs, and Tail
The Selkirk Rex has a medium-length, rectangular, and stocky body. It is relatively heavy with well-developed muscles and strong bones. Its medium-length legs end in large, round paws. The tail is medium-length, thick, and has a rounded tip.
Head, Ears, and Eyes
The Selkirk Rex has a medium-sized, round, and broad head. Its forehead is rounded, and both males and females have full cheeks. The muzzle is short and square with a slightly curved nose. Even its whiskers and eyelashes are curled, just like its coat. The jaws are strong, and the medium-sized ears are set wide apart with slightly rounded tips. The ear flaps are covered in curly fur. The eyes are large, round, and widely spaced, with a colour that complements the coat.
Coat
The Selkirk Rex has a thick coat with distinctive loose curls, most prominent around the neck and tail. The curls cover the entire body, with no bald spots. The undercoat is dense, and the coat continues to develop until the cat is about two years old. There are both long-haired and short-haired Selkirk Rex varieties.
